Yadkin County Criminal and Civil Records
Yadkin County Superior Court and District Court have shared jurisdiction over criminal and civil cases. The Superior Court handles criminal cases involving felony crime(s) and civil cases involving $25,000 or more in dispute. Meanwhile, the District Court handles lower-level crimes and civil cases with claims valued under $25,000.
Generally, criminal cases involve the government levying charges against an individual for violating a law. On the other hand, civil cases usually entail one party filing a lawsuit against another party. Common examples of civil cases include contract disputes, family issues, and personal injury claims.
The Yadkin County Clerk of Court is the primary custodian of records of court cases heard by the County’s Superior and District Courts. Hence, records seekers can access or request records of criminal and civil cases through the County Clerk of Court. Self-service terminals are provided in the County Clerk of Court office that interested persons can use to access and search for records for civil and criminal cases by subject’s name or case number. Record seekers can also request copies of court documents at the Clerk of Court office for a fee. The County Clerk of Court office is situated within Yadkin County Courthouse.
In addition to the County Clerk of Court office, law enforcement agencies also generate and maintain certain types of Yadkin County Criminal Records, most notably Yadkin Arrest records. Yadkin County Divorce Records
Interested persons can obtain a copy of a divorce judgment granted in Yadkin County through the County’s Clerk of Court Office. Record seekers can visit the Clerk of Court office to request a copy of a divorce judgment for a fee.
Yadkin County divorce certificates from 1958 to the present are also available through the North Carolina Department of Health and Human Services (NCDHHS) Office of Vital Records. Note that the office charges requesters a $24 nonrefundable fee for a divorce certificate search.
Interested persons can order a Yadkin County divorce certificate through the NCDHHS Office of Vital Records in person or by mail. In-person requests are appointment only. Yadkin County Birth Records
As previously eluded, Yadkin County Birth Records are accessible through the County’s Register of Deeds Office. Like other vital records, uncertified copies of Yadkin County birth certificates are available to the general public, while certified copies are only issuable to certain eligible persons. Requesters must present a valid ID when requesting certified birth records to prove their eligibility to obtain the record. Furthermore, record seekers are charged $10 and $0.25 for copies of certified and uncertified birth records, respectively.
Record seekers can request copies of Yadkin County birth records in person at the Yadkin County Register of Deeds office during regular business hours. Record seekers can order birth certificates online through the Register of Deeds Vital Record Request portal. Alternatively, record seekers can complete the Vital Records Application Form and mail it with all required items to the Register of Deeds office to request a birth record. These required items include a relevant fee via check or money order, a self-addressed stamped envelope, and a copy of the requester’s government-issued picture ID (when requesting certified copies).
Yadkin County Death Records
Interested persons can obtain Yadkin County Death Records through the County’s Register of Deeds Office. Like other vital records, certified copies of a death certificate are considered confidential. As a result, they are only available to select persons, including but not limited to the decedent's immediate family members, such as their spouse, child/step-child, parent/step-parent, brother/sister, and grandparent/grandchild. Meanwhile, the general public is allowed access to uncertified copies of death certificates.
Requesters must present a valid government-issued picture ID and are charged a $10 fee to obtain a certified copy of a death certificate. Meanwhile, uncertified copies cost $0.25.
Requesters can order death certificates through the Yadkin County’s Register of Deeds Office, in person, online, or by mail. Interested persons can make in-person requests at the County’s Register of Deeds Office during regular business hours. Meanwhile, online requests can be made through the Register of Deeds Vital Record Request portal. Lastly, a requester can request a death certificate by mail by completing the Vital Records Application Form and mailing it along with the required items to the County Register of Deeds office. Yadkin County Probate Court Records
Probate cases typically involve the administration of a decedent's estate or will. In Yadkin County, the Superior Court handles probate cases.
